David Sherman supervises the undergraduate advising office and advises majors and pre-majors on department and university requirements. He is also responsible for coordinating the yearly curriculum plan and scheduling all courses for the department.

Diana Smith greets visitors to the Advising Office and fields questions about the undergraduate program, assists with student concerns, and helps faculty and TAs with their class lists and add codes. She does an initial review of major applications, is the coordinator of the internship program, and assists in the annual scholarship awards process.

Heather Werckle works closely with faculty to coordinate the Graduate Programs. This includes: answering admissions and application questions, teaming with faculty to make and communicate TA & RA assignments, and monitoring student progress and files to ensure graduate students are on track as they progress through the Ph.D. and master's programs. She is also a resource for graduate students needing assistance navigating their programs and figuring out how to meet department and university requirements.

- When is my ASE (TA or RA) contract due?

Patrick Olsen develops, implements and coordinates the activities of the administrative and financial activities of the Department of Communication. These include overseeing budget expenditures and monitoring accounting practices to ensure compliance.

Victoria Sprang manages alumni relations for the Department of Communication. She works with alumni from the undergraduate B.A., the graduate M.A., Ph.D., Digital Media, and Native Voices programs, encouraging and strengthening their connection to the Department. Victoria partners with the Communication Alumni Board to support mentoring and outreach activities and she is the Department liaison for the Communication Hall of Fame members.

Amanda Weber is a point of contact for Department news about alumni, students, faculty, events, and other topics of interest. Amanda also heads up Department events like the Scholarship and Excellence Awards Ceremony, and the Graduation Celebration.

Ansel Herz is the temporary Program Operations Specialist during Winter and Spring 2012. He is a resource for faculty and students in the use of new media technologies in their projects and in the computer labs. He also updates the Department website, designs outreach materials, and helps maintain the Department's social media properties. His open lab hours are Tuesdays from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. in CMU 302.
