The Department of Communication Studies at Bridgewater State College invites applications for a full-time tenure track position of Assistant Professor of Journalism beginning September 1, 2010.
Responsibilities include teaching Introduction to Journalism and other courses within the Media Studies & Communication Technologies concentration, as well as participating in departmental activities such as program review, curriculum development, and advising and mentoring students. Candidate may teach Core Curriculum courses including first or second year seminars.
Ph.D. in Journalism/Communication or Media Studies required by September 2010.
Evidence of teaching experience or commitment to teaching. knowledge of writing for media, mass communication and journalism theories, convergent technology and computer-assisted reporting, participating in departmental and college service, advising students, and pursuing an active research agenda is expected.
Additional assignments in another area of specialty are possible.
Prior or current experience in the field of journalism is a plus.
